Social Worker Demands Urgent Safety Measures at Accident-Prone Stretch Near Jubilee Hall in Cansaulim

Social worker Rocozinho D’Souza has called for immediate intervention to improve road safety at the accident-prone stretch near Jubilee Hall in Cansaulim, citing a sharp rise in traffic following the completion of the new hot-mix road.

According to D’Souza, the route has become a preferred road for motorists travelling towards Margao, leading to increased vehicular movement and a higher risk of accidents. He urged the Velsao Village Panchayat to trim overgrown trees and bushes that obstruct motorists’ view of approaching vehicles, making the junction hazardous.

Residents have also pointed out that the steep gradient of the road further reduces visibility for drivers, increasing the likelihood of collisions.

D’Souza appealed to the local MLA and the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a site inspection and implement appropriate safety measures at the earliest to prevent accidents.

Supporting the demand, Velsao Panch member Jim D’Souza said the concerned authorities should address the issue without delay, warning that action must be taken before the area witnesses a fatal accident.
