Government Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Protesters, Says Cockroach Janta Party After Late-Night Talks

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday said that no protester would be abandoned, following a late-night meeting with government representatives who reportedly assured the group that additional states would soon issue notifications safeguarding those participating in the ongoing protests.

The statement came just hours after the CJP accused the government of violating an earlier agreement over police action against demonstrators and warned that it would resume protests if assurances were not honoured. The party had also claimed that officials shared notifications issued by the Bihar and Assam governments providing relief to protesters.

In an update posted on X at around 1 am, CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the meeting with government representatives lasted between two and three hours and resulted in renewed assurances regarding the protection of protesters.

According to Das, government officials reaffirmed their commitment to withdrawing police cases registered against protesters, securing the release of those who had been detained or arrested, and ensuring similar safeguards through notifications issued by the Union government as well as other BJP- and NDA-ruled states.

“Hours after our press conference, Government representatives met us. The meeting lasted for 2-3 hours. They shared copies of the Bihar and Assam notifications guaranteeing FIR withdrawals, no action in future, and release of all detainees and arrestees,” Das said.

The CJP maintained that the assurances demonstrated the government’s willingness to address the concerns raised by the protesters, while reiterating that it would continue to monitor the implementation of the promised measures.
