Mormugao Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit chaired the quarterly review meeting to assess vector-borne disease control measures and precautionary initiatives being undertaken by various government departments across the taluka.
The meeting focused on intensifying preventive efforts against dengue, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season when the risk of infections is higher.

Officials from the departments concerned attended the meeting and presented updates on the measures being implemented in their respective jurisdictions. Discussions centred on strengthening inter-departmental coordination, enhancing public awareness, improving sanitation drives, carrying out source reduction activities and ensuring prompt response mechanisms to curb the spread of vector-borne diseases.
Representatives of NGO GOACAN also participated in the meeting and offered suggestions to encourage greater community involvement and awareness. It was unanimously decided to organise a special public awareness campaign during the upcoming Vasco Saptah celebrations to educate residents on preventive measures, the importance of maintaining cleanliness and eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
Addressing the meeting, Pandit stressed that effective control of vector-borne diseases requires coordinated efforts from government departments, non-governmental organisations and the public. He underscored the need for collective action to ensure a healthier and safer environment for the residents of Mormugao.
