Betul MLA Altone D’Costa Inspects Drifted ONGC Pontoon, Urges Immediate Removal Over Fishermen’s Safety Concerns

A joint site inspection was conducted at Betul by MLA Altone D’Costa, along with ONGC Executive Director Saket Gupta, local panchayat representatives and revenue officials, to assess the collapsed ONGC floating pontoon that drifted towards the shoreline nearly a month ago.

During the inspection, the MLA and members of the local fishermen’s community expressed serious concerns over the submerged structure, warning that it poses a threat to traditional fishing activities and marine safety.

They urged ONGC and the port authorities to undertake immediate salvage operations and remove the pontoon before it causes damage to fishing nets, boats and other equipment used by local fishermen.

The inspection was aimed at evaluating the condition of the collapsed structure and expediting measures to ensure the safety of the fishing community while preventing further disruption to their livelihoods.
