Gold Prices Slip Across India Today; 24K Falls by ₹22 Per Gram

Gold prices in India edged lower on Tuesday, August 4, with rates declining across all major purity categories. According to market data, 24-carat gold is priced at ₹14,400 per gram, down ₹22 from the previous day. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold is retailing at ₹13,200 per gram after falling by ₹20, while 18-carat gold is available at ₹10,800 per gram, reflecting a decline of ₹16.

The latest correction comes after gold prices briefly eased as global market concerns softened. However, analysts note that the precious metal continues to witness sharp day-to-day fluctuations due to persistent geopolitical uncertainty, particularly tensions in the Middle East.

Despite taxes remaining at 15 per cent, gold prices have experienced short-term volatility, influenced by changing investor sentiment and international bullion trends. Gold remains one of the preferred investment options in India, especially during periods of economic uncertainty.

Experts believe that while temporary declines may encourage jewellery purchases, prices could remain volatile in the coming weeks depending on global developments, currency movements and demand in international markets.
