Food safety officials have flagged serious hygiene and food safety violations at a Zepto warehouse in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district following a special inspection.
During the raid, officials found organic waste, discarded wrappers and bottles, accumulated dirt on the floor and empty cardboard boxes inside the warehouse. The conditions were described by health officials as “extremely unhygienic”.

The inspection was conducted by the Food Safety Division of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department under the Health and Family Welfare Department as part of a special drive to assess the quality, safety, storage, labelling and handling of food products at the facility.
Officials reported several violations, including non-compliant labelling, misbranding, unhygienic food handling and improper storage conditions. Other lapses related to compliance with requirements prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) were also observed.
The department said the inspection was aimed at ensuring that food products stored and handled at the warehouse meet prescribed safety and quality standards.
The findings raise concerns over hygiene and food safety practices at quick-commerce warehouses, where large quantities of food and grocery products are stored and dispatched to consumers.
