Goa Congress leader Amit Patkar said he was not aware of reports that All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge was scheduled to visit the state.

Responding to a question about Kharge’s reported visit, Patkar said he had no information regarding the programme. He also stressed the need for greater unity and organisational strength within the party ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
“Congress has to be strong and united if we want to win the 2027 elections,” Patkar said.
The party has already begun preparations for the upcoming polls, with discussions focusing on strengthening booth-level organisation, improving coordination among workers and expanding grassroots outreach across all 40 constituencies.
Congress leaders have also been exploring possible cooperation with like-minded parties, including the Goa Forward Party, as Opposition groups prepare to challenge the ruling BJP in the 2027 elections.
Patkar’s remarks underline the party’s focus on overcoming internal differences, improving coordination among its leaders and presenting a united front before the next Assembly election.
