BJP announces new national team; Smriti Irani, Vasundhara Raje get key roles

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced its new team of national office-bearers, bringing several experienced leaders into key organisational positions. The reshuffle includes former chief ministers, former Union ministers and senior party functionaries from different states.

Among the prominent appointments, former Union minister Smriti Irani has been named a national general secretary with organisational responsibility for Uttar Pradesh, while former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia has been appointed national vice president for Rajasthan.

The appointments come as the BJP seeks to strengthen its organisational structure and give greater responsibility to leaders with experience in governance as well as party affairs.

Raje, Irani among key appointments

Raje, one of the BJP’s most prominent leaders from Rajasthan, has been given the responsibility of national vice president for the state. Her appointment is expected to further strengthen the party’s organisational activities in Rajasthan, where she remains an influential figure.

Irani, who has held several important responsibilities in the Union government and within the BJP, has been appointed national general secretary for Uttar Pradesh. The state is politically crucial for the BJP, and her experience in the state is expected to be useful for the party’s organisational work.

The new list also features several senior leaders who have held important positions at the state and national levels.

Tirath Singh Rawat, a former Uttarakhand chief minister, has been appointed national vice president. Former Union minister Manpreet Singh Badal, senior leader Ram Madhav and BJP leader Baijayant Panda are also among those given key organisational responsibilities.

D Purandeshwari has also been appointed a national vice president, adding to the representation of experienced leaders from different regions.

Piyush Goyal named national treasurer

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed the BJP’s national treasurer. His elevation gives him an important role in managing the party’s financial and organisational affairs.

Rajesh Mangal from Rajasthan has been appointed national joint treasurer.

The appointments reflect the BJP’s effort to combine political experience with organisational expertise. Several of the leaders named to the new team have previously served as ministers, chief ministers or senior party functionaries.

13 national vice presidents appointed

The BJP has appointed 13 national vice presidents as part of its new organisational team. The list includes leaders representing different states and political backgrounds.

Among those named are Vasundhara Raje Scindia from Rajasthan, Tirath Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand, Ram Madhav from Delhi, Baijayant Panda from Odisha and D Purandeshwari from Andhra Pradesh.

The broader list includes leaders with experience in state governments, Parliament and party organisation, giving the new team a mix of political and organisational experience.

The appointments are also significant ahead of the BJP’s future electoral and organisational challenges. Nitin Nabin congratulates new team

BJP president Nitin Nabin congratulated all the newly appointed office-bearers and said the team would bring together experience and energy to give fresh momentum to the organisation.

Nabin said the new team would work under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and focus on strengthening the organisation while advancing the BJP’s vision of a developed India.

The BJP president also described the new office-bearers as dedicated party workers and expressed confidence that they would contribute to the party’s nation-building agenda.

The new appointments mark an important organisational exercise for the BJP, with several established leaders receiving expanded responsibilities. The party is expected to use the new team to improve coordination between its central leadership, state units and grassroots organisation.
