The Indian Coast Guard and Navy have intensified search and rescue operations after Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Ocean Winner sank in the Bay of Bengal on August 22.
The vessel went down around 230 nautical miles southeast of Paradip, Odisha, with 24 crew members on board. Two crew members were rescued from separate liferafts by commercial vessel MT Aisopos and are receiving medical care. The remaining 22 crew members are still missing.
The crew comprised 20 Chinese nationals, three Myanmarese and one Bangladeshi. Three Coast Guard ships, Varad, Anmol and Vijit, have been deployed to conduct surface searches for the missing crew.
