Bombay High Court Orders Pond Restoration, Road Removal at Ganpati Visarjan Site

Activist Kashinath Shetye said the Bombay High Court has directed authorities to remove a road and restore a pond associated with Ganpati Visarjan in connection with PIL 39 of 2018.

Shetye said the court has also directed that a gate be constructed and the area restored in accordance with earlier survey records. He welcomed the reported return of mangroves at the site, stating that six mangrove varieties have been identified there.

He further said allegations concerning business activities and generators in the No Development Zone (NDZ) area involving Yogesh Digadi and Sheila Balamistha have been referred to the amicus for examination and reporting to the court.

The matter is scheduled for further hearing on September 22, when new interveners are also expected to be heard.
