The Goa Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified its festive season surveillance to ensure safe and hygienic food reaches consumers across the State.
During a drive in Porvorim, FDA officials inspected four canteens and eateries operating in and around government office establishments. Three government canteens and one private restaurant were checked, with three units directed to stop operations after serious structural deficiencies and poor kitchen hygiene were found. Their operations will resume only after compliance is verified.

In Margao, the FDA also checked interstate buses to monitor the safety and compliance of food products entering Goa.
Meanwhile, a sweets manufacturing unit at St Jose de Areal, IDC Nessai, was found operating without a valid FSSAI licence and under unhygienic conditions. Around 105 kg of Motichur laddus worth ₹23,220 were detained and destroyed.
The FDA said surveillance will continue throughout the festive season.
