PANJIM: State government on Thursday notified the scheme of Financial Assistance to Films 2016, where Rs 50 lakh will be the maximum financial support to encourage production of quality films in regional languages.
“The scheme shall be called the Goa Scheme of Financial Assistance for Films 2016 (for the production of Feature Films in Konkani and Marathi and Non-Feature Films including Short Films and Documentaries in Konkani, Marathi, English and Hindi),” Director Information Jayant Tari said in the notification. 
The scheme, to be implemented through the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will ensure that films released since 2011, which have not received government support or funding, would be eligible for financial support.
The Cabinet had accorded its approval to the scheme, which had been discontinued since 2010. 
“The scheme envisages grant of financial assistance up to 50 percent of the cost of production of a film or as per the relevant provisions made in Schedule I hereto, whichever is less,” he added. 
The scheme shall apply to feature films and non-feature films created and produced in Goa by film producers/co-producers, registered with ESG. 
Film producers and co-producers who are registered with the Directorate of Information and Publicity are also eligible for the scheme.
