PANJIM: Soil testing is being done for the proposed Transport Bhavan, which is to come up at Patto, Panjim. The work of soil testing, planning and estimating the project has been allocated to consultant Rahul Deshpande and Associates.
The building will be one of the first ‘green government buildings’ in Goa and adopt green concepts by using eco-friendly construction material, water harvesting, less usage of energy and other, to reduce the carbon footprint
Transport Director Arun Desai said the soil testing of the project is being completed and the consultant is working to make the proposed project a reality.
The Transport Bhavan is proposed to be constructed on land belonging to the transport department behind the Kadamba bus terminal at Patto Plaza, Panjim. The Bhavan is expected to be a state-of-the-art complex with around five storeys that will not only house the transport department’s head office, but also have the office of the Assistant director of transport and enforcement wing (north) along with a full-fledge floor for Kadamba Transport Corporation.
Each office would be of 500sq mtrs each, Desai said adding that government is also exploring the possibility of giving away the ground or first floor of the building for commercial purpose, to generate revenue.
Besides, it will have conference rooms, training centre for drivers and conductors, premises for computerized testing of license seekers and if required premises for transport officials of other states.
