BBSM to campaign for BJP-MGP alliance

PANJIM: Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) on Sunday resolved to back BJP-MGP pre-poll alliance in the state elections condemning Congress Party for the anti-local language policy.
The resolution was passed during BBSM’s ‘Parent Mega Convention’ held at Gomantak Maratha Samaj in Panjim. The convention, which was attended by almost one thousand parents and teachers, unanimously decided to vote out Congress party for the forthcoming elections, scheduled on March 3.
The manch has decided to campaign in large number across the state urging people to vote in favour of BJP. For which, several state and taluka level teams are been formed, under which the campaign will kick off from February 12.
Addressing the convention, BBSM convener former Chief Minister Shashikala Kakodkar urged people to support BJP-MGP alliance in big way in forming the next government in the state.
“The Congress-led government is not bothered about the educational system, which is deteriorating under their regime. The time has come, when we need to support and bring in, a government, which will stand by in protecting the future of Goa,” she said.
Kakodkar said that Chief Minister Digamber Kamat-led government has not only changed the educational policy but have also failed to maintain its importance.
BBSM has been seen in action for over last eight months protesting against government’s decision of considering English as MoI. Several recommendations were made by Manch demanding to revoke the stand of giving grants to English Medium primary schools.
The matter is currently sub-judice.
Speaking during the gathering, Educationist Uday Bhembre said, “people in large need to come out protesting against Congress party. This time, it need not be in form of Bandh or public meetings, but lets now use the weapon called ‘voting’,”.
Bhembre believes that BJP-MGP alliance and its win is the only option that could protect and preserve the status of local languages in the state. “BJP has always extended their support to BBSM and local languages as MOI. Be it inside the assembly complex or outside, they have always raised voice,” he stated.
The convention also saw the presence of Pundalik Naik, Naguesh Karmali, Arvind Bhatikar, Subhash Veliengkar, N Shivdas, Pandurang Nadkarni and others.
