India to Conduct Large-Scale Civil Defence Drill to Assess Wartime Readiness
The Government of India has mandated a nationwide civil defence mock drill to be conducted across all states and Union Territories on Wednesday. The large-scale exercise is aimed at evaluating the country’s emergency preparedness in light of emerging geopolitical threats.
As per the directive, the drill will assess the effectiveness of air raid warning systems, operationalisation of radio communication links with the Indian Air Force, and functionality of main and shadow control rooms.

Key components of the drill include:
Implementation of crash black-out measures
Camouflaging of vital installations to avoid detection
Testing the response of civil defence services, including warden services, firefighting units, and rescue operations
Evaluation of evacuation plans and public awareness on protective actions in case of an attack
The drill is expected to see active participation from local authorities, civil defence volunteers, home guards, students, and members of organizations like NCC, NSS, and NYKS.
Authorities emphasize that the drill is a preventive readiness measure, not linked to any immediate threat, but necessary to strengthen national resilience against potential hostile situations.
