PANJIM: Human Right Defenders, an NGO have vowed to approach the high court if the government does not register an FIR at the Vasco police station based on their complaint of fraud in the Dabolim parking land denotification case.
Addressing a press conference, Advino Fernandes the president of the Human Rights Defenders said that despite filing the initial complaint, writing to the Superintendent of Police as well as exhausting other options of having an FIR registered, they have now approached the office of the chief minister in a bid to prosecute the leaders of the erstwhile government who made it possible.
“The chief minister has said that before Diwali he would initiate prosecution proceedings against former Congress leaders who have looted the state during their reign. So we are hopeful that the chief minister will take this issue seriously and bring the culprits to book.”
Fernandes said that in the absence of any reaction or action from the chief minister in this regard they would be constrained but to approach the high court in order to secure a registration of an FIR in what they term is a multi crore scam case.
“The conspiracy and common intention to cheat the people of Goa and commit fraudulent acts is not only limited to Digambar Kamat, José Philip D’Souza and Mauvin Godinho, but also to the member secretary of the Mormugao PDA, P K Pandita who abetted the fraudulent and criminal action by issuing a letter containing false facts showing defence land as parking space. The entire action by the trio and the member secretary of the PDA is prima facie malafide,” Advino said in his letter to the chief minister.
He and his group have been demanding registration a case under various sections of the IPC including conspiracy, breach of trust, cheating, forgery, etc.
They have given the CM one week to act failing which they will submit their petition before the court.
