It is disheartening to know that the electricity and water supply to the oldest dairy farm in Navelim have been disconnected for more than a month. The government officials must learn to handle such issues in a more humane way. For instance, Amul Dairy farm had a humble beginning in Gujarat, but it was supported, encouraged and given financial aid not only by the state and central governments but also by international agencies such as UNICEF and OXFAM. Later in 1970s and 1980s it led to what we call ‘white revolution’. It is ironical here in Goa that the government officials have taken the most stringent action against the poor dairy farmers.
