The stabbing incident in Sydney which resulted in the death of an Indian woman IT professional once again exposes the perils of women working late into the night and getting home unescorted. The victim Prabha who worked for Mindtree in ‘The Rocks’ in Westmead, a suburb of Sydney, also paid dearly for throwing caution to the winds and not heeding her friend’s advise to refrain from taking a risky route. It is also incomprehensible that her employers made no arrangement to drop her home fully aware of the perils lurking in the night. One’s heart goes out to her kith and kin and it is our fervent prayer that the Almighty gives them the strength to bear the loss.
