FATORDA: Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna defeated Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna 4-2 via tie-breaker to move into final of the U-14 Suborto Mukerjee Cup (Salcette Zone), at artificial turf, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Fr Agnel HS dominated the match but to some extent Regina Martyrum HS had a say in the last quarter of the first half as they tried some moves but both teams failed to convert.
The defense force of Regina Martyrum comprising of Cryodon Fernandes, Crisly Luis was commendable and goalkeeper Steno Rebello brought in smart saves under the bar.
For, Fr Agnel HS Jake Medeira was at his best under the bar while Necio Fernandes and Jivan Oleveira made some incredible moves upfront.
In the 3rd minute itself Prajwal Zuvatkar of Regina Martyrum could have taken the lead but Kevin Kalsorkar of Fr Agnel foiled his move.
Necio Fernandes from the 18 yards box released a floater off Jozwar Cardozo connect for Fr Agnel but it hit the outside goal post of Regina Martyrum and went out of play.
In the 9th minute Necio Fernandes solo long ranger for Fr Agnel went wide.
Joean Simoes long ranger effort for Regina Martyrum flew high up in the air in the 15th minute.
Godfrey Crasto of Verna too put his hat inside the rival box but Jazwan Cardozo tackled his move for Regina Martyrum in the 20th minute.
Necio Fernandes of Fr Agnel shot from close range but the rival goalkeeper Steno Rebello fisted the ball for a corner kick in the 22nd minute.
Change of ends saw Fr Agnel making good upfront moves with Necio Fernandes and Jazwan Cardozo who executed two good moves in the 38th and 40th minute but both shot wide.
Godfrey Crasto of Regina Martyrum’s move was blocked by Jivan Olieveira of Fr Agnel in the 41st minute.
Jimmy Colaco opened the scoring for Fr Agnel in the 45th minute while Godfrey Crasto levelled 1-1 for Regina Martyrum in the 51st minute of Jasvir Crasto’ connect.
In the resultant tiebreaker Alloid Colaco, Josbon Cardozo and Melvin D,Costa converted for Fr Agnel while Crydon Fernandes netted for Regina Martyrum.
In the other semi-final match Holy Spirit High School, Margao outplayed Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda 2-1.
Richard Carvalho and Nathan Rodrigues scored a goal each in the 37th and 48th minutes for Holy Spirit HS.
Later, Meldon Oliveira pulled a goal back for Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda in the 53rd minute.
