After the match Salgaocar stand with 12 points from six matches and Calangute enjoy with nine points from seven matches.
Both the sides matched each other’s strengths and restricted the ball to the midfield for a major duration of the first half with moves few and far between.
Terence Lobo who was an influential player in the Calangute Association midfield sent a regular supply of ammunitions upfront, however their strikers failed to capitalise on the opportunities that came their way.
Salgaocar on the other hand failed to combine well as a unit thereby lacking the required punch in their attack.
In the 24th minute of play Sunny Fernandes on collecting the ball from Terence made a fine run into the Salgaocar danger zone and flashed a low cross across the face of the goal which beat the entire defence, however Runall Shirodkar failed to get his feet to the ball.
In the final five minutes of the first session Salgaocar FC came twice close to scoring however Calangute Association keeper Jason D’Mello did well to block Aslon Oliviera strike in a one on one situation and then two minutes later came up with a diving save to deny Mackroy Peixote from slotting the ball home.
Crossing over, both the sides continued with their midfield tactics with none of them making any invasive forays into the rival citadel.
In the last quarter of the match Salgaocar stepped up the pressure and were awarded five corner kicks in a span of ten minutes however Calangute Association keeper Jason did well to ward off the danger.

Minutes later, Brian Mascarenhas saw his curling corner kick being fisted away by the keeper.
Seeing the lack of finishing ability amongst the lads, Calangute coach Valentine Ezeugo brought in Sachin Gawas and Agnelo Colaco to further boost the squad however the much needed goal eluded them till the final whistle.
