Festive mood at rally

PANJIM: There was a festive feeling as more than a lakh gathered at the Merces bypass to listen to Narendra Modi BJPs poster boy and its official prime ministerial candidate.
Busses were lined up all along the roads with charts on their windshields stating a number and the name of the place which the people in the bus came from. Lined bumper to bumper the people in the busses waited patiently till the busses parked and then walked to the venue.
There was a lot of traffic but it was what could be described as an orderly chaos as there was no honking and general pushing to get there first except for a few mini busses who probably thought they could fly.
The crowd patiently walked through the quite a few entrances with metal detectors and were guided to their respective seating arrangements by volunteers, who mostly comprised of youngsters.
The women were shepherded first to their places while invitees were given chairs and the rest had to make do with tarpaulins.
The national media was in full cry along with the local media. What was most catching was the buzz and excitement when Modi came on the scene as even volunteers left their places to catch a glimpse of the man who the BJP hopes would lead it to power in these elections.
However, the speeches were mundane with most leaders choosing to hit out at the obstructions they faced in setting up the rally instead of anything concrete. The chief minister began slowly but soon picked up speed and confidence in a multilingual speech while Rajnath Singh was at his political best
