MAPUSA: The Anjuna police found a charred body of a female on a football ground at Baman waddo Siolim on Friday Morning. According to the Anjuna Police, around 7.30 am, they received a call from a jogger about a body lying near the bushes at Baman wado Siolim. The Anjuna police inspector Sanjay Dalvi and his team rushed to the spot. The body was completely burnt and was beyond recognition.
The panchnama later revealed that the body was dragged for four metres. Police have spotted the marks. Police also found the right leg of the body at a certain distance from the crime scene which was carried away by a stray dog. It was confirmed by a local who said he had seen the dog carrying the body part. Police identified the body as that of an Indian woman aged between 15 to 30 years and with a height of 155 to 165 centimetres. Police have found a finger ring, a chain and a bangle on the body following which they indentified the victim as a female. The torso was gutted but the limbs were almost intact. During the panchanama, the police also found a lighter and suspect the accused must have used petrol to set the body on fire. The face was completely burnt.
The body was found on a play ground which is mostly being used by the students of SFX school and is also used by village boys to play football. The ground is surrounded by houses but at some distance. Within an hour, senior police officials SP North Kartik Kashyap, DIG Bhupender Singh also reached the site and inspected the scene.
Anjuna PI Sanjay Dalvi said ” We cannot identify the person since the body is completely gutted. We have started with our investigation and are currently focussed on missing cases reported in different police stations. We can go ahead with further investigation once we receive the medical report mentioning the cause of death. We are also trying to get some clues on the basis of the ornaments found on the body”.
SP North Kartik Kashyap said no stone would left unturned to solve the case and he appealed to the public to co operate and share any information if they have. the police pressed into service the sniffer dog squad along with a forensic team to get some clues but the police are yet to obtain any specific lead. Anjuna police have registered the crime under section 302 of IPC. Anjuna PI Sanjay Dalvi is investigating the case under the supervision of SP North Goa Kartik Kashyap.
