MARGAO: After obtaining the NOCs from the concerned authorities, Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has yet again commenced dumping inert from Sonsoddo in the Kadamba Bus stand area.
MMC chairperson Lyndon Pereira assured there won’t be any problem for the residents.

According to the chairperson, since Sunday MMC has re-started transporting inert from Sonsoddo to the area belonging to KTC, which was earlier opposed by the residents.
Addressing the media persons, Lyndon said, “MMC has obtained all the required NOCs from the concerned authorities to transport and dump the inert of Sonsoddo. After getting elected as chairperson I had promised to clean Sonsoddo by transporting the inert to the places identified by MMC. We had commenced dumping the inert behind the KTC bus stand, as the land belongs to KTC. However, few residents opposed the move”.
He said, “Now, MMC has all the required NOCs and the work of dumping the inert commenced on Saturday. The dumped inert will be covered with mud. The work will be completed within four days”, he informed.
Meanwhile, on Sunday the chairperson along with Councillor Francis Jonas visited Ward one (Madel-Mungul area) and listened to the grievances of the locals.
“This is my first visit to the ward since getting elected as chairperson. Ward councillor has put up a few issues troubling the locals who want the area to be cleaned and MMC will definitely look into the matter at the earliest. It has also brought to my notice that there are few black-spots, wherein people dump the garbage, and as result, the locals have to bear the stench. MMC will try to resolve this issue”, he assured.
The chairperson assured that the issue pertaining to rise in dengue cases will be resolved with the help of the Urban Health Centre.
Councillor Francis said he and the people of Madel-Mungul are thankful to the chairperson, as he visited and gave a patient ear to their grievances.
“Due to uncleanness people of this area are facing dengue cases and hence we have requested the chairperson to help out in maintaining cleanliness. Besides, residents have also taken initiative to create awareness with regards to cleanliness”, he informed.
Residents of Madel-Mungul on Sunday put up banners at various places, appealing to keep the places clean and created awareness on dengue.
