PANJIM: Leon Mendonca lost his last three matches and muffed a golden opportunity to finish in the top three, as he secured seven points out of 11 and stood 13th in 27th National U-7 Open Chess Championship in Pune.
Suyash Pai and Pratik Borkar finished with seven points each and finished 21st and 22nd respectively due to lower Buchholz. Colaso Vernon secured 5.5 points.

Meanwhile in the girls section, Sanvi Naik Gaonkar finished with seven points and stood 14th. Alaya D’Cruz tallied six points while Stuti Pai got four points.
