MAPUSA: St Anthony’s HS Monte de Guirim managed to register a hard fought 1-0 win over St Joseph’s HS Calangute in the final of Bardez Taluka Subroto Mukherjee football tournament for U-14 boys played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.
James David scored the all-important goal in the second half of the match, with a neat placement.
Ryan Dias, Franco Andrade and captain Langston Fernandez played exceptionally well throughout the match for Guirim school.
St Joseph’s High scholl gave a tough fight to the winners however couldn’t find the equaliser.
Chief guest Adv. Domnic Pereira, Executive member GFA greeted both the teams and also gave away certificates to the winners and runners-up.
Headmaster St Anthony HS Monte Guirim Fr. Romeo Fernandes, Ex-APEO Bardez Shobha Tupsundar, John Dias and Anant Sawal TSO Bardez were also present.
