SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Host Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club went down fighting to Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-4 via tie-breaker to storm into the final of All Goa Sao Jose de Areal Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club, at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, on Sunday.
Both the teams showed attacking intent but SC Davorlim broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Joe Mac Colaco unleashed a snap shot which crashed into the net .
Sao Jose de Areal SC regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and their efforts paid off when Francisco Baretto converted a spot kick after his shot was handle by rival defender and referee David Rebello without any hesitation pointed to the dreaded spot.
Post resumption, both the teams went all out in search of match-winner and both had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered from close range.
In the penalty shoot-out, Paxton Gomes, Agnelo Colaco and Venson Figureido found the mark for SC Davorlim while only Hasten Dias was successful for Sao Jose de Areal SC.
SC Davorlim will now meet Nuvem SC in the final on October 28.
