Contamination of natural spring rocks Sancoale gram sabha

VASCO: The contamination of a natural spring at Bondeabhat due to discharge of sewage into it rocked the Sancoale gram sabha meeting. Locals demanded that the panchayat takes strict action against those involved in releasing sewage into the spring. The spring issue saw a heated discussion wherein locals complained about the foul smell, presence of insects and other problems.  

Paulo Fernandes and his neighbors inquired about what steps have been taken by the panchayat members against those establishments who have been allegedly discharging sewage into their springs.

Later, Sarpanch Girish Pillai along with other panch members assured the villagers that this matter will be taken up to the higher authorities for further action.

Besides this, the gram sabha unanimously rejected the government notification for the inclusion of Sancoale panchayat as ‘urban village’. 

On a separate issue, the phase one of the ‘People’s Biodiversity Register’, was approved by the gram sabha members. On another topic, the panchayat secretary informed that they have decided to take action against road cutting.
