CHINCHINIM: Union of Chinchinim Villagers defeated St Rock Majorda Calata, 5-2 to storm into the quarter-finals of the Union of Chinchinim villagers 8-a-side inter-village football tournament, at Our Lady of Hope ground Chinchinim, on Tuesday.
Scanny Souza sprung a surprise in the 5th minute with a sudden move from the left flank for Chinchinim Villagers and shot from the 6 yards rival box but the goalkeeper was equal to the task.
Scanny Souza made another attempt as he partnered with Rosario Dias to slam his rocket bond shot to open the account for Chinchinim Villagers in the 12th minute making it1-0. Within eight minutes Filbert Pereira leveled terms for St Rock Majorda. In the dying minutes of first half, Sunny Simoes made it 2-1 for Chinchinim Villagers.
After the lemon break, the 60th minute saw Ryan Fernandes make it 3-1 for Union of Chinchinim. Later, Sunny increased the lead for Union of Chinchinim by 4-1 in the 65th minute.
St Rock Majorda, fought back as Ismael reduced the margin in the 68th minute for his team making it 4-2. It was Rosario who scored a free kick for Union of Chinchinim in the last minute of second half to make it 5-2 and take his team in to the quarter-finals.
