MAPUSA: Quepem Veterans squeezed past Navelim Veterans 6-5 via the sudden death to advance into the semi-finals of the Late Pascience and Assu Fernandes football tournament, organized by Candolim Veterans, at Candolim ground, on Monday.
Both the sides tried hard but failed to break the deadlock till the final hooter.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Piedade Almeida, Agnelo Araujo, Tiago Fernandes, Domingos Pereira, Chandrakant Naik and Alino Mendes scored for Quepem Veterans while Cajie Santiago, Claudio Dias, Dominic Cabral, Alfred Fernandes and Johnson Pires shot on target for Navelim.
