CALANGUTE: Calangute police busted two separate prostitution rackets in Calangute, when three foreign victims were rescued and two persons arrested on Thursday.
According to Police, the first raid was carried out in the wee hours of Thursday along the border of Calangute-Baga. A 24-year-old Uzbek woman was rescued, while a customer, Abhishek Balal (40) of Meerut, UP and a taxi driver, Kamlesh Azgaonkar (36) of Naikka Vaddo, Calangute, were arrested under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.
In the second prostitution racket in Baga, two Kyrgyz women were rescued while they were waiting for customers. During interrogation, police was informed that a person had lured them into the sex trade. Calangute Police is on the look out for the accused.
All the three women were produced before the JMFC at Mapusa and will be sent to the Protective Home at Merces. PI Nolasco Raposo is investigating both cases.
Incidentally, Calangute Police has so far busted eight sex rackets in and around Calangute in the past one year.
