Cumbarjua Congress MLA Rajesh Phaldesai also supported the demand adding that fire personnel should be imparted training for cutting the fallen / weak tree to ensure no dependency on local service providers.

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo informed the House that a tree cutter charges upto Rs 40,000 which is out of the budget and as such, the fire personnel should be given the training and the required equipment/machinery to carry out the work in an emergency.

The need for additional vehicles, sub-station at Patto, high capacity de-watering pumps, body suits for fighting fire and implementation of the Central government’s Risk and Hardship Allowance was also discussed.

Lobo requested the government to provide a small fire fighting vehicle to be stationed along the beach belt to tackle possible fire incidents. Smaller vehicles to reach the fire accident sites through the small roads were also sought from the government.
