Azossim threatens to move HC over dumping of debris on comunidade land

PANJIM: Azossim-Mandur gram sabha on Sunday resolved to approach the High Court of Bombay at Goa in connection with dumping of clay and debris on comunidade land at Parpotikodde, if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated time.

PANJIM: Azossim-Mandur gram sabha on Sunday resolved to approach the High Court of Bombay at Goa in connection with dumping of clay and debris on comunidade land at Parpotikodde, if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated time.
“In the gram sabha held today, the people resolved to approach the High Court of Bombay at Goa in connection with dumping of clay and debris by a construction company on comunidade land at Parpotikodde in Azzossim if the issue is not resolved by the GSPCB and various government authorities,” Sarpanch Ajit Bacal said.
Around 1000 truckloads of clay and mud belonging to a construction company have been dumped on land belonging to the Azossim comunidade without permission. This clay and mud is now being washed away in rain and flowing into local water bodies and wells.
He further said that the panchayat had raised this issue several times with the North Goa Collector and also with the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB). 
The gram sabha has further resolved that locals renting out rooms to migrants have to submit all related identification and other documents in view of the rising cases of robbery in the village.
“The cases of robbery have been on the increase in the village and keeping this mind, we have resolved that locals renting out rooms to migrants have to submit all related identification and other documents along with police verification,” he added.
