PANJIM: BJP MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has ruled out any possibility of a leadership change in Goa and snubbed speculation of discontent within the alliance. Speaking to media persons, Rane also said that Congress is playing to the galleries by staking claim to form the government, as they don’t have required numbers.
“Where is the question of leadership change? We have our Chief Minister in place. He is taking treatment, but that does not mean we should replace him,” the minister said responding to a question about the current political situation in the State.
Rane said that the State government is functioning very well and all the alliance partners are firmly supporting Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “There is nothing to talk about of the political situation. Our government is stable and all the allies are united. The administration is being run smoothly,” he said.
Asked about visit of BJP Central observers to Goa last weekend, Rane said, “The party leaders never discussed leadership change during their meeting in Goa.” BJP had sent three observers to the State to meet the local leaders and alliance partners and take stock of the political situation.
Rane rubbished the allegations of Congress party that governance has come to a standstill in absence of the Chief Minister. “Today’s world is technology driven. Files can be cleared on email. Even when I am abroad, if there is any urgent file, I clear it on email,” he claimed.
He added, “Congress has no numbers with them. If they have support of 21 MLAs, then they should parade them before the Governor. They are just playing to the galleries.”
