MARGAO: The Discriminated Teachers’ Forum has urged the government not to further delay the implementation of the assurances given by ex-CM Manohar Parrikar on the floor of the Assembly to the aggrieved teachers in March 2013.
“The government should not invite any further curses from the bruised teachers some of whom may be on their death beds,” stated Forum President Neves Anthony Rebello.
The Forum made it clear to the government and the Directorate of Education that a man does not live on empty and unfulfilled assurances. “What we need are concrete realities as a consequence of which many of our colleagues have died, pinning for the promised benefits. They must be fervently praying from above to grant the government and the Directorate of Education enough courage, will power and determination to solve the genuine grievances of their harassed, bruised and still living brethren before they too rest in peace,” Rebello said.
He pointed that when a delegation of the Forum had called on the Deputy Director of Accounts (Pension) on the matter, the officer in question told them that he himself is in a fix and at a loss to finalise one/two cases referred to him by a school or two in the absence of a clear cut directives in the order issued by the Directorate of Education.
