MARGAO: A 17-year-old resident of Raia is reported to have feared drowned in a water body located at a quarry in Gudi Paroda.
Earlier, at this very site, four deaths due to drowning had been reported.
On Monday, four youngsters aged between 17 and 19, three of them from Arlem-Raia including Jaffar and another from Davorlim went to the quarry. The road to the quarry is rough and unmotorable, which is used only by trucks.
According to the trio, at around 4.30 pm, Jaffar slipped and fell into the water body and failed to come up. The trio tried searching him but in vain. Police were informed about the incident at around 5 pm.
Fire service personnel from Quepem and Margao rushed to the site and tried to find Jaffar but failed in their attempts. They later sought for the night vision lamps from Panjim, while arrived at around 9 pm. The search operations commenced and navy divers have been informed about the incident.
