Kavlem sarpanch concerned over rise of COVID cases

PONDA: Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar on Friday expressed concerned over sudden rise of COVID positive cases since past four days. 

He said, “Today there were 14 cases reported while the total in past four days has gone up to 44 cases.” “As sarpanch I request all the villagers not to go out unnecessary and observe social distancing norm,” he added.

Canacona correspondent adds: The Community Health Centre, Canacona reported 17 new cases on Friday which is the biggest number in a day till now, with the addition of these cases the total number has gone up to 145 in the taluka.

According to the Canacona Community Health Centre, Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, “All the 17 patients who were diagnosed positive for the COVID infection have been admitted at different COVID Care Centres and testing of close contacts of the positive patients is being carried out daily at the CHC. As per data made available, the reported 17 cases on Friday in Canacona is the highest spike in cases since the first recorded case in June.
