RAIA: Fr Agnel SC defeated Goan Warriors 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the FC Raia Cup football tournament, organised by FC Raia at Raia ground, on Friday.
Fr Agnel SC had the first attempt on Goan Warriors goal when Frazier Fernandes on receiving the ball from Benson Rebello entered into the rival territory, but Projot Naik tackled his move in the 5th minute.
After that Milind Shinde of Goan Warriors took a long ranger which was saved by Olten Fernandes, keeper of Fr Agnel.
Both teams tried to score in the first half but their strikers lacked sharpness.
In the second half Fr Agnel regrouped with renewed ideas and their goal scoring plan cracked to score the match winner through Benson Rebello’s placement shot off Sezvin Fernandes assist.
Fr Agnel SC will meet Curtorim Gymkhana in the quarter-final on May 22.
