MAPUSA: A sex racket was busted by Calangute police on Friday, who arrested two people in this connection and rescued two girls.
Acting on information that a person was engaged in supplying girls for sex in Calangute area, police trapped the pimp when he was about to supply a girl to a customer in Baga.
Based on the description of the vehicle, police traced the accused and the girls at Baga. Police questioned the girls in the presence of NGO Savera members and learnt that they were being supplied to the customers by the pimp.
The alleged pimp was identified as Manjunath Siddappa Belganoor (24), a resident of Candolim and the customer was identified as Cavin Hasmukhbhai Patel (25), a native of Gujarat. The accused persons were booked under Section 37 of IPC and under Section 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956.
The girls are natives of Gujarat and are presently lodged in protective home at Merces. Police also attached a white colour Wagon-R car along with cash Rs 20,000 and two mobile phones.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
