Panjim: Amidst growing demand for complete lockdown in view of the rising COVID-19 cases, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane ruled out the demand stating that Goa has to fight back COVID-19 united as a team, without dividing our strengths.
“Fighting COVID-19 has to be united efforts. When we say team Goa, it has to be everyone including the Opposition,” he said ahead of the all-party meeting held at Chief Minister’s Official Residence at Altinho on Monday.

“You cannot go on locking down areas. There is concept of screening, home quarantine etc. It has to be a community effort. We have to see the present situation in Goa and how best we can move forward,” he said replying to queries on Opposition’s demand to seal the borders and lockdown in Goa.
Rane added that CM Pramod Sawant held a discussion with the cabinet and ruling MLAs. “CM is taking everybody into confidence to work out a consensus,” he said adding, “We have to create awareness. We have to educate people and see how we face COVID-19. It is very easy to say that we can shut down activities,” he said.
Referring to the containment zone at Mongor Hill, Rane added that the decision on whether health authorities will do antibody testing of the suspects in that area, will be taken soon.
