PANJIM: The Goa State pavilion set up at Pragati Maidan at the 34th India International Trade Fair at New Delhi has been evoking good response.
During last twelve days innumerable visitors visited Goa pavilion which has been designed by the agency Media Promotion. The IITF a mega event having the theme Women Entrepreneurs will conclude on November 27, 2014.
The Goa pavilion is set up on an area 192 sqm in hall No 6 depicting the nature, art and architecture and traditional aspect of Goan life. Apart from IDC other departments, which includes Department of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Department of Tourism, Department of Information and Publicity, GHRSSIDC and GTDC have participated in the Goa pavilion. The artisans under Goa Handicraft Corporation also made brisk sale of the handicraft items during the IITF period which was commenced on November 14, 2014.
The daily cultural performances by Goan folk dancers also drew good response. It may be noted that every year the State Government participates in IITF to project Goa’s rich cultural heritage, cuisine, hospitality, Goa as an investment destination and also to promote popular welfare schemes. This year thrust has been laid to promote Goa as a land of opportunities.
The Goa Pavilion was inaugurated by Industries Minister Mahadev Naik on November 14, 2014 and since than many personalities which included elected representatives, bureaucrats’ among others visited the stall. A couple of days back Member of Parliament for South Goa Narendra Sawaikar visited the Goa pavilion. Sawaikar suggested to book adequate space for setting up of Goa pavilion in future and to involve more departments and Corporations so that Goa is projected at the national level in right perspective. Others who visited the stall included Arvind Bugde, director of Information Publicity and Board of Directors of IDC and GHRSSIDC.
