The Startup Satraps section has done a great job of encouraging Goan Tech entrepreneurship with the inspiring local case studies it highlights every week. Many young Goans in coming years would be grateful to Herald for planting seeds of entrepreneurship into their minds early on. All the very best to Team Herald
— Vincent Toscano, VP, GITP
In Business issue feels like our very own economy scanner. Not only does it give insights about the businesses in Goa, but also the economic scene across the globe. Details about various schemes is important knowledge for an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs featured on the issue are known to us and it feels great to read about their work and after work schedules. It’s a must for Goa and many fellow Goans will get the motivation to start-up. Herald should continue this issue for years to come. Special thanks to Team Herald for initiating this in our Goa. It would be even better if Herald could maintain a directory of all entrepreneurs using QR Codes and tech users can scan the code to access all articles covered till date
— Milind Prabhu, CEO, Genora Infotech
I have been reading Herald since I moved to Goa last November. I found this newspaper to be dealing with very relevant topics concerning the common man. In Business is the supplement I look forward to every fortnight since it does not focus just on drab business and economics news which interests only business people or senior executives. There are so many different aspects covered here that it could even be of help to ordinary working people. I enjoy reading about the young achievers of Goa, ‘Out of Office’, ‘You invest my money’, ‘Tax Matters’ etc. I find it very informative and helpful for a person like me who does not have any clue about how to manage Finances. In Business gives a very big platform to the young generation and entrepreneurs which is very encouraging
— Shabnam Jana, director, IAM Goa & Indismart Woodbourne Resort
Congratulations to Team Herald for pulling off a great year. The In Business section has been showcasing the young and dynamic start-up talents of Goa. The section has a characteristic tone to unveil Goa as a one of the fastest growing start-up cultures in the world. The team has been easily approachable and has injected the startup-awarness DNA in the ecosystem, by which the eyeballs around the world can witness an alternative definition to Goa besides tourism
— Prajyot Mainkar, chairman, YEF at GCCI
Hearty congratulations to the Herald on its first anniversary of its In Business supplement. I was pleasantly surprised when the Editor mentioned to me about the plans to start the same a year back. In the past there was hardly any positive outlook towards entrepreneurship or any development and we always felt that Herald is meant only for negative stories. This initiative I am sure changed the outlook of many people. Being one of the largest circulated daily with a strong presence in the coastal belt of Goa, it was indeed the need of the hour as increasing youth population was not interested in political or crime stories, rather they wanted to know about opportunities and the stories which would inspire them and guide them for their future. In Business exactly performed this role.
I was also privileged to feature in this supplement and I could understand the popularity of the same when so many people appreciate my interview.
Herald has certainly done many good jobs to the State but somehow it pains when it takes a diagonally opposite view on some of the key developmental projects of the State. Being an IPB member, I had expected much support from Herald or In Business, however the regret is that the honest intentions are being presented in an very negative way. I wish In Business a happy anniversary and look forward to a very strong commitment to the growth of business sentiments in Goa
— Nitin Kunkolienker, IPB Member
Herald has been the only newspaper giving utmost stress on the Information Technology sector and highlighting the upcoming tech-entrepreneurs. When start-ups receive such highlights from a seasoned publisher, it adds more value to their firm, it is like a motivation which helps them struggle through all odds to prove themselves. I wait to read stories/interviews of every new entrepreneur. We get to learn from mistakes of others and motivate ourselves from hardship faced by others. Team Herald has been very active in showcasing the actual state of IT in the State of Goa, may it be about IT policy, incubation centres or start-ups.
— Mangirish Salelkar, CEO and CoFounder, Umang Software & Technologies
My hearty congratulations to the In Business supplement of the prestigious daily Herald on its anniversary. This has helped to give information about the Industry, trade and commerce. It is shaping well in giving voice to the needs of the Industry. Pharmaceuticals and engineering are two big sectors along with food Industry like cashew, fish and mushrooms. The micro Industry is growing with lot of self-help groups coming in the field. These sectors can be highlighted and a positive image could be created. There could be a section for the new aspiring entrepreneurs and also Q&A column. I wish the supplement all the best and great future
— Manguirish Pai Raiker, Advisor, WTC, Goa
Congratulations on the successful completion of one year of In Business.
I want to tell you how much I appreciate the thoroughly researched and clearly written thought-provoking stories which can motivate and ignite passion among upcoming as well as established entrepreneurs.
The articles express both the positive and negative aspects of the stories without taking an emotional stance on either side of the issue. Thank you for being refreshingly upbeat and uplifting in the coverage.
Your coverage has been a great launch pad for many upcoming and innovative start-ups of Goa. CIBA has received some exciting and wonderful entrepreneurial talents to work on because of the coverage. I want to say that In Business by Herald is awesome and rocking
— DS Prashant, GM, CIBA
I look forward to reading Herald’s ‘In business’ supplement as it allows one to feel the pulse of the business world in Goa. It offers a good blend of insight and unique perspective of business activities happening in Goa with the right dose of significant business happenings at the national level.
As an IT professional I also appreciate its social component. When meeting a person from Goa’s IT business world, you can discuss recent magazine articles as a conversational ice breaker. I meticulously follow the start-up section of the supplement. For one, the positive vibes of this column is appealing. Secondly, it’s interesting to read as to how bright Goan minds have turned their ideas into a plan of action and a successful business venture. I am sure it must have motivated many youngsters to think of entrepreneurship as a viable career option. I also like the lifestyle component – the concept of ‘Me time’ for a businessman/women to recover rejuvenate and ideate is tempting.
The column by Neetant Shirodkar which simplifies cryptic concepts in finance is also my personal favourite.
A directory of useful contacts /links which can be used by any and every business, some focus at least once in a while on traditional businesses, highlighting of business efforts in rural Goa and a more stronger online presence with ease of access are my few ‘asks’ from this supplements.
All in all a worth read for business leaders, professionals, start-ups and consumers too
— Sangeeta Naik, Director (Tech), Digital Goa
The four page journal on business insights is very well published on a fortnightly basis and has a wealth of information for the Goan business man and the general public at large. Since it’s a Goan centric newspaper a lot of information needs to be disseminated locally. For the new start-ups, information like formation of companies, how to procure business loans, how to register your company, how to patent your products / brands, all of this will help upcoming entrepreneurs to engage themselves quickly. There is high level of frustration with the upcoming Goan entrepreneurs as they have to gain favours from bureaucrats and politicians who further take advantage in their dealings, and thus the need to exploit them. So a page or a column to give first hand information on company formation for start-ups and articles on new start-ups looking for VC funding/ seed funding /tie-ups/collaborators etc. Some more content on successful business stories and start-ups and entrepreneurs both national and international. Overall a good one year and wealth of business information. Keep it up Team Herald and look forward to another successful business writing year ahead
— Conrad Stephen, Director, Purple Crest Advertising
Hearty congratulations to The Herald on its business supplement completing a year. This is a refreshing initiative by the newspaper to showcase business trends in Goa and the players that drive them. While Goa is well chronicled as a tourist destination, the supplement does an admirable job of highlighting its business side which is often downplayed. I personally enjoy reading about the casual side of business leaders on the last page. It is interesting to see new facets of these professionals and the philosophies that drive them. Even though I have known a few of them personally, it is only through this section of the supplement that I learnt something new and interesting about them. My suggestion as a reader and well-wisher would be to devote a section of the supplement to Goan start-ups that are creating a space for themselves
— Siddharth Savkur, General Manager, Alila Diwa Goa.
Have been following In Buisness for a while now. It’s a very good initiative that gives a great idea of various projects, innovation, fresh Ideas, entrepreneurs and government approaches in the market. It becomes an interesting read as it talks about both national and local market. It also helps readers and new entrepreneurs get a fair idea about things trending and workable in today’s market condition
— Sahil Adwalpalkar, Director, Adwalpalkars and SinQ Hospitality
On this joyous occasion for Herald and its contributors, we would like to express our best wishes to Team Herald on completing one year of successful business news reporting. The In Business supplement launched last year has been very useful and informative in throwing light on money, investments, savings, consumer, market stories and life outside the corporate world. The fortnightly journal is resourceful for both businesses and individuals alike. We hope that Herald continues to inspire, motivate and carry forward its true spirit of journalism. And may its fiercely independent and passionate voice continue to be heard for many years to come
Vikas Sharma, General Manager, Hard Rock Hotel Goa
Entrepreneurship is built on passion and the ability to see and take risks. It is also fuelled by motivation. This can come from all quarters, friends, peers and associates. In the case of the Herald it comes from a medium that exposes the individual to a larger canvas of well wishers and potential interest seekers into ones business. It’s a commendable job to identify such entrepreneurial talent and project start-ups to the wider world. Herald does a great service to these businesses through their column to the individuals running them. I wish this form of motivation continues to guide and encourage our businesses and our business entrepreneurs into moving ahead and forging a new India for the welfare of the generations to come. Well done Team Herald
— Kirit Maganlal, Founder and CEO, The Magsons Group
Congratulations and best wishes to Team Herald. I am a regular reader of the newspaper and I feel Herald is doing a fantastic job, even though a few suggestions can make a difference. The business page offers a good focus on the local community. Every week readers are introduced to pioneering entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. Few additions can be incorporated like highlighting global players, interviews, reviews and market analysis from the international front and its impact on Indian and local markets. For example how international travel trends are changing. This exposure would be a good learning experience for Goans. Thorough studies on various Goan business segments can be carried out. Invite various experts to present their views and reviews both on national and international matters. Apart from featuring new age business men and women, local traditional occupations can be focused on as these are slowly dying out
— Vikram Verlekar, MD, Ulhas Jewellers
Congratulations on completing 1 year successfully. I like the initiative and feel it does bring a positive focus on different businesses and business people. I can suggest that in future you can continue as you are doing but could you put more emphasis on raising issues that businessmen face in their quest to ‘make in India’. Sometimes business people do not wish to raise issues they are battling because they fear a backlash. Also can you profile small off best businesses so as to bring more focus on them. Bakers, transporters, taxi men etc. All the best
— Blaise Costabir, Managing Director, GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd
The In Business supplement covers some really important aspects of business. Features about a variety of business topics make for interesting reading. I especially like that there is a segment for start-ups since this segment has been neglected for a long time. Perhaps the supplement coud add news related to trending businesses, curated articles from the global economy that can be useful for Goan businesses and best practices that exist in other business environments like ours. A segment devoted to infographics would be a welcome addition. Keep it up Team Herald
— Jervis Pereira, Director, GITIC
The In Business supplement of the Herald is presented as an ideal model based on the way the reader wants it narrowing the reflection and focusing on it. I find every article written very informative and interesting. The topics covered are precisely from all the fields of business. As rightly said the Herald In Business is aimed at business leaders who want the latest business news. The lead news establishes due significance, includes mention of consequential or significant news article, and is written in a way that makes readers want to know more. It addresses the right issue and challenges. Articles covering issues from all business sciences are a pleasure to read, including those that focus on ethics. The In Business has touched Goa’s realty market that has been witnessing a sluggish growth since the last 3-4 years due to global and national economic factors and higher interest rates. The first half of 2016 seems to be working in the favour of Goa’s realty market. The economic pointers have shown a good sign of strength. This is due to the launches of the affordable housing projects, as developers predicted greater demand in this highly price responsive segment. Secondly factors have now revealed that the residential real estate is a buyer’s market that gives buyers the upper hand. The buyers have now a lot of options to choose from, with the added benefit of flexible rates and attractive payment plans. The next year we wish to see the In Business Smart as the Smart City initiative is in full swing and will step into the next stage of implementation. However, the citizens who live and work should merge and blend with the smart city drive with respect to civic sense and with due respect to the law
— Desh Prabhudessai, Chairman, Credai Goa
Herald’s In Business is a very informative fortnightly capsule covering businesses across sectors in a very balanced and non-biased manner. Entrepreneurs profile (Out of Office) is really interesting and very succinctly covered. I have come across business persons who have gained confidence to move faster and higher after their appearance in In Business.
I believe ‘In Business should carry ‘entrepreneurs corner’ where specific information to entrepreneurs can be provided and queries answered. This will really help aspiring and budding entrepreneurs and will not have to run from pillar to the post to get basic and relevant information. My best wishes to In Business team on its first anniversary
— Raj Kumar Kamat, VP, GSIA, Managing Trustee GEMS and Executive Director, BNI
I congratulate Herald on their anniversary of In Business a four page supplement, circulated fortnightly with their newspaper. The pullout is informative and covers relevant articles on business, trade and commerce. It has wide coverage on direct tax matters and it would have been better if similar scope is extended on indirect taxes for the benefit of industries and trade. I have a few suggestions for inclusions, such as movement in price with change in percentage, of major stocks and popular mutual funds in the fortnight with an expert view on prudent investing in the money market. The corporate reports of major companies could also add some value to the supplement
— AK Banerjee, Director, GCCI
The In Business section by Team Herald has finally brought the focus on local Goan businesses. They have been doing a fantastic job of covering relevant business issues that affect the local business community in Goa on a day-to-day basis. I really like their focus on start-ups and they are constantly profiling new and innovative businesses from different parts of Goa. Their coverage of various government initiatives acts as a great resource for new business. I would love to see them expand the business section and profile more locals and start-up businesses from all over the State as well as provide in depth coverage of the ongoing growth of the local start-up community
— Rajula Gupta, Lead Mentor, CIBA
It’s a good platform for those doing business in the State. I did not know half the guys existed and this supplement is a very good platform to learn about what is going on in certain sectors. It is good to learn about people who are doing well and contributing to the economic growth of the State and nation. I hope the supplement grows in its second year
Osrick Cabral, President,
