Before the
schools closed for long awaited Christmas vacation, the festival was celebrated with zest and enthusiasm
across all Navy schools in Vasco. Being established in 1992, The Little Angels
School, Vasco has been the harbinger of providing quality pre-school education
to children from both – defence and civil background. Known as ‘Tiny Tots’
school earlier, the school has rich legacy of celebrating all festivals, as is
customary to its cosmopolitan children. The school, along with Balwadi Nursery,
Sankalp School for special children and Naval KG School are amongst the welfare
initiatives of Navy Wife Welfare Association, Goa Region.
Christmas has always
called for special celebration in our school, being in a state with second
largest following for Christianity. This year, the school took the opportunity
of festive season to make the children who belong to various strata of social
status, realise how Christmas can infuse the feeling of joy by loving, giving
and sharing.
The students of Navy
Children School (NCS) enacted the story of birth of Christ. They lifted the
spirits of their junior counterparts by singing carols and distributing gifts.
The celebration included decorating the Christmas tree with Santa. This was
followed by giving gifts to one another and the best part –opening them!
Indian
Navy has onerous duty of maintaining a world-class, professional defence force
on shoulders of multicultural and diverse breed of officers and sailors. The
Christmas celebration, amongst other colourful festivals, by these Navy
schools, is the right catalyst to spread the message of respecting all
religions – a much needed anti-dote to heal the present-day times.
