What better way to spread the joy of music and unite music aficionados than a musical concert? Doing just that will be ‘Crossing’, a tribute to late Pt Prabhakar Chari’ – a musical affair of rhythms and harmonies by internationally renowned artistes. The concert is being organised by The Pt Prabhakar Chari Pratisthan.
“The Pratisthan was founded to honour late Pt Prabhakar Chari, a noted tabla player, an accomplished musicologist and an artiste of distinct repute. He was a firm believer that music is a free medium and thus the joy of listening to good music should not be the prerogative of a few. He wanted to share his music with open-minded people, especially the youth. Hence the Pratisthan can into existence. The foundation is committed in its endeavour to promote emerging musical talent, provide assistance to senior stalwarts and preserve the rich heritage of Hindustani music,” says Vishnu Surya Wagh, Chairman, Kala Academy.

Ravi Chary, the first sitarist to emerge from the Goan landscape, is the son of the late Pt Prabhakar Chari. He is carrying forward his father’s musical legacy, having performed extensively with noted Indian and international artistes from diverse musical backgrounds.
Coming together for this occasion are an eclectic fusion of musicians, who mirror the various facets of music through their magical performances on the sitar, tabla, violin, pakhvaj, flute, drums, keyboard, guitar and harmonium. Also part of the event are some of the finest performers of kathak and fusion dance.
The event is being organised by Pt Prabhakar Chari Pratisthan in association with Vinsan World and supported by Kala Academy and Directorate of Art and Culture. While Mahindra Insurance Brokers is the associate sponsor, Hotel Fidalgo and The Mandovi are the hospitality partners of the event.
The event is open to the general public.
