FC Goa -Football fans finally have a name to chant

The fans are the 12th man for FC Goa, the team that will be representing the state

FC Goa has already signed Brazilian legend Zico as their marquee manager and football fans are brimming with optimism as another Arsenal legend could be heading to Goa from the marquee pool of players. Besides that, Brazilian jogador Roberto Mendes Silva (Beto) is believed to be pulling more strings through his sports management firm after the acquisition of Zico to help FC Goa get some more Brazilian players for a
3-month long samba fiesta in Goa.With the Indian Super League all set to become a major sporting event in the country, one can see lots of
new branding and social media trends emerging and, all of a sudden, Indian football seems to be following you everywhere you go. FC Goa’s official Facebook page has already crossed the 5,000 mark, which may be relatively less than other ISL clubs, but it’s sure to pick up as we get closer to the countdown to kick off.
According to a club official, FC Goa has hired a PR agency to handle its PR and media activities to maximise the potential of ISL. Through the PR agency,
FC Goa intends to go all out in the coming month.
The pre-tournament period has already begun and
the fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming days.
Brazilian legend Zico is expected to arrive soon. The club
is also likely to make an announcement on its marquee
players, unveil the kits and launch its merchandise for the
season, says a source close to the team.
Everyone associated with football would agree that
the actual currency that runs football is the fans and FC
Goa is going all out to capitalise on the existing football
fan-base in the state and make sure that Goans all
over the world pledge their allegiance to FC Goa. “Goa
always had passionate football fans but never a club
that they could relate to. Now the arrival of FC Goa will
change all that as they will finally have a name to chant
from the stands,” says another club official.
FC Goa’s efforts to connect with the fans were
evident at its official launch wherein their satellite TV
channel, the first of its kind in India to engage with fans
and followers, was initiated.
Jason Rodrigues, a football fan already connecting
to the team, says, “Hope my team wins the title this year.
We have a great squad and a legend in Zico to guide
them to success, I also love the club logo; hope the
jersey and the merchandise is cool as well.”
If they communicate with their fans and utilise the
many online opportunities in the coming month, then
come October 16, FC Goa will be chanted across the
stadium by over 20,000 soccer fans at the Jawarharlal
Nehru Stadium in Fatorda where we take on Club
Chennai in our opening match.
