Veroda parishioners joyfully celebrated the feast of the sacred tongue of St Anthony with great fervour and devotion. The solemn feast mass, held at the grotto of St Anthony, was presided over by Auxiliary Bishop of Goa, Simiao P Fernandes. He was joined by parish priest, Fr Benjamin Sacrafamilia and priests from Veroda village, Fr Leonardo Moraes and Fr George Nandiyala as co-celebrants.
In his homily, Auxiliary Bishop urged the faithful to embrace the virtues of St Anthony and actively spread the word of God within their communities. He also emphasized the need to preserve and protect the environment, Cautioning against its destruction by vested interests and advocating for sustainability for future generations.
A moment of immense joy for the villagers was the blessing and inauguration of a new prayer room by the Auxiliary Bishop a long-cherished dream finally realized. The Bishop commended the parish priest and parishioners for their dedication and commitment to the project.
The Feast mass witnessed an overwhelming turnout of over 700 devotees. Fr Benjamin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency for gracing the occasion. He also extended thanks to the generous donors whose contributions made the new prayer room a reality. Adding to the spiritual ambiance, the church choir’s melodious and heartfelt singing enriched the celebration, filling the gathering with joy and devotion.
