Today brings with it the opportunity for all to take a step back from
their regular lives and view emotion, beauty and passion from a different
perspective. This will be possible through Spandan International Art and Craft
Festival that will take place from today, December 11, to January 31, 2016. Spandan
is a platform for all arts and styles, comprising artists old and new, to reach
out to the masses during this 50-day festival in Goa. The festival not only
promotes mainstream artists but also those skilled in handicraft.
As the opening day is upon us, the sole proprietor of the
organising body Enhance Exhibitions and Events, Anant Vikas, has no time left
free. Speaking about what Spandan has in store for Goa this year, he says,
“Along with Goan participants, there will be artists from all over India and
also some from countries like Russia and UK.”

Generating international renown in just the 25 months that
Spandan has been active is no small feat. This non-commercial platform that
displays varied talents will truly be a testament to creativity, beauty and
deft fingers, going by the success of the previous editions of Spandan. It is a
way for new artists to be noticed and for the experienced ones to show that old
can still be gold.
Art can be called an extension of the soul, best expressed
without boundaries. “Art colleges have their limits: budget, available classes
and teachers, subjects and themes that fit the syllabus. So I request them to
work with us, we have no limits; everything is open. Anything they imagine,
they can display at Spandan,” states Anant Vikas.
When talking about the various events to showcase a wide range
of talents, he spoke about his favourite, Jugalbandi. “There will be a special
event called Jugalbandi. It is about bringing all arts together on one single
platform,” he informs, adding, “There will be artists drawing on the stage
along with instrumentalists, dancers and singers, performing in a coordinated
manner.”
This festival also provides encouragement to special children,
and those underprivileged or orphaned. Spandan festival held in Jaipur opened
with a competition held for underprivileged children, with 500 participants who
were all awarded certificates and the exceptional 5 awarded prizes. “I feel
these kids are a part of our society and their welfare is the responsibility of
our society; they are always a part of my activities.” asserted Anant Vikas.
