The 9th Goa State Film Festival 2018 will be held from May 3 to 6, 2018. The
inauguration will be held at 5pm at Maquinez Palace, Auditorium 1 followed by
screening of the film ‘K Sera Sera’. The award ceremony will be held on the
concluding day at 5pm, followed by the screening of the Best Film of the 9th
Goa State Film Festival.
Films made between January 1, 2016 and
December 31, 2017 were eligible for this festival. They received a total of 10
feature film entries, comprising nine Konkani and one Marathi film. Two non
feature film entries were also received. The jury for the feature film section
comprised Girish Kasaravalli (Chairman), Pratima Kulkarni, Ashok Patki and
Meenakshi Shedde. The jury for non feature section included Dhritiman
Chatterjee (Chairman), Amrit Pritam Dutta and Spandan Banerjee.
A total of 21 awards in feature film
section will be given. Best first film will win Rs 5 lakhs, best second film Rs
3 lakhs, best direction 1st place Rs 50,000 and 2nd prize Rs 35,000. All
individual awards will win Rs 25000 each. In non feature film section, Best
Fiction Film and Best Non Fiction Film will get Rs 1 lakh each. Four other
awards will comprise Rs 25,000 each. Prize for Best Film is Rs 20,000.
All films that participated in this state award competition will
be screened for the public on first come first serve basis during the duration
of the festival at Maquinez Palace 1 & 2.
The
films that will be featured from Thursday to Sunday at their respective
screening times are ‘K Sera Sera’, ‘Martin’, ‘Big Ben’, ‘Connection’,
‘Mahaprayan’ , ‘Plastic Dhoti’ (Non feature), ‘Aaba Aikta Naa’ (Non feature),
‘War Onn’, ‘Mogan’, ‘Mogan Tujya, ‘Disha’ (Marathi) and ‘Soul Curry’. This was
announced at the recent press conference that was was jointly taken by Rajendra
Talak (Vice Chairman – ESG), Mrunal Niket Walke (General Manager, ESG), Sachin
Chate (Executive Council & General Body member, ESG) and T. S. Sawant
(Director, Dept. of Info. & Publicity).
