Konkani film, ‘K Sera Sera – GhodpachemGhoddtelem’, directed
by Rajiv Shinde and produced by GayatriPednekar and Rajesh Pednekar, under the
banner of De Goan Studio, has won the Best Regional Film (Konkani) at the 64th National
Film Awards. The film was the only Konkani film that was selected for the
Indian Panorama Feature Section at the 47th International Film Festival of
India (IFFI) in 2016. It had one screening in Goa, and it will nowpremiere on
May 5 and 6, 2017 at Inox, Panjim.
‘K Sera Sera – GhodpachemGhoddtelem’, is director Rajiv
Shinde’s second directorial venture after ‘DekhniDurai’ (1996), which was
written by Pundalik Naik and featured Rajesh Pednekar. The movie had won State
Film Awards in major categories. He is the Professor for Applied Arts at Goa College
of Art and teaches film-making,where nearly 30-40 advertising films and short
films are produced every year. “I have been working with Marathi and Hindi
theatre for over 30 years, and I have known Rajesh Pednekar longer than that,”
says Rajiv who written plays like ‘Thodasa Logic, Thodhasa Magic’ in Hindi in
Mumbai, which has been adapted into Gujarati.

He further adds, “The story for the film was written nearly
15-16 years ago, and I had presented it to a television channel as a 21-episode
series. They were impressed by it, and informed me that the story would be made
into a 350 episode TV show. My good friend, Mohan Tomwalkar advised me not to
give away my story, and thanks to his advice, the film has won a national
award. I forced Rajeshto act in the film, as I knew he could do justice to the
role. I made him physically fit and he had to act as a 65 year old. He grew a
beard, went on a diet and had a complete transformation. Even his friends
failed to recognise him.”
The film narrates the story of two distinct individuals; one
who believes in changing the circumstances with precise and definite decisions,
and the other who believes in letting the situations and circumstances decide
the course of life.
The story, screenplay, dialogues and direction are by Rajiv
Shinde, and the cast includes PalomiGhosh of ‘Nachom-iaKumpasar’, Rajesh R
Pednekar who is also the producer of the film, Salil Naik, Prince Jacob,
LeenaPednekar, Snehal Jog, SuvidhaTorgal, DakshaShirodkar, LeenaMashelkar,
MayuriRivankar, John D’Silva and Fermino Goes.
Hari Nair isthe director of photography,NirajVoralia,the editor,
BishwadeepChatterjee is the sound designer,and has worked on films like ‘Piku’,
‘BajiraoMastani’and ‘3 Idiots’. The art direction was undertaken by SushantTari,
visual effects by AtmaramSawant and SiddhartTuri and the costume designer wasDeepikaKorgaonkar.
For
Salil Naik, this is
the second consecutive film which has won the National Award after ‘Enemy?’,
directed by Dinesh Bhosle. “Working on ‘K Sera Sera’ was great, as the entire
set up was done over16 days of shooting. My part had to be up in seven days,
and Rajiv knew exactly what he wanted from my role. It was a cut-throat
experience as the time was short for the shoot, and we were told to act naturally
and realistically. He minutely noticed every aspect of the film, including eye
movement. It was fun working with the cast and crew, who were Goans. Palomi is
very down to earth and we both have worked in national award-winning films,”
says Sahil.
Palomi and Rajesh Pednekar are in the United States of
America, as the film has been selected for the Boston Film Festival and the
WorldFest-Houston International Film.
WorldFest is the oldest Independent Film and Video Festival in the World
and this marks its 50th anniversary. In Goa, the film will be screened on May 5
and 6, 2017 at Inox, Panjim as a fundraiser for the National Association for
the Blind (NAB).
