Pets also have a personality and an online presence. In times where AI content and content overstimulation are dominating across social media, pet content becomes a safe and happy space for many. The innocent smiles, giggle-worthy tricks, and tantrums of pets offer solace to animal lovers through likes and shares online. Not just pet owners, but the pets themselves enjoy posing, dancing, and smiling for the camera in front .
A FUN PERSONALITY AND APPEARANCE STEAL HEARTS Creating pet personalities has been a wonderful journey for most pet owners. They post consistently on their accounts, not just for shares or maximum reach but because they enjoy admiring their pets and recording their beauty. “I post regularly because I truly love capturing and sharing Snow’s everyday moments. He is absolutely spoilt with love and treats,” said Nishi Mayur Sawkar from Mapusa, pet parent of Snow, a husky. What attracts viewers to pet Instagram is their own unique personalities. Rasha Sarah DeSouza, from Assnora, spoke lovingly about her Rottweiler, Zeze, “Her online personality is simply an extension of who she is in real life, a warm, confident, and affectionate Rottweiler who loves to explore new places and can accompany me absolutely anywhere with ease.” Through her pet content, Rasha has tried to foreground Zeze’s love for travel, obsession with ball, and her naturally social personality that allows Zeze to easily connect with both people and other pets. If it is personality for a few, for some other pets, along with their personality, it is their physical appearance as well, which grabs the attention. Nishi shared, “Snow’s (Husky) unique two different eye colours and expressive personality instantly draw people in, but it’s his sweet, dramatic, and affectionate nature that keeps them connected.”
BORN TO BE OR TRAINED TO BE AN INFLUENCER? Mango can shake hands, dance around, play dead and behave well for his physical checks at veterinary sessions. He has been with Dr Charmaine Pinto (a veterinary doctor based in Panjim) since he was just 2 weeks old, and he is certainly a unique free-flight bird who can groove for ‘If you are happy and you know it’. “I’ve never seen free-flighted birds (Trained pet parrot or Free-flighted bird Mango companion bird allowed to fly outdoors without restraints) in Goa, so I thought I would introduce the concept here. Watching him f ly around freely is extremely satisfying and rewarding. I got Mango in February 2020, and I’ve loved watching him grow up. From a shy little chick, I’ve watched him grow into a confident, adorable angel,” said Dr Charmaine. Content creation does not require intense training if the pet naturally has a gregarious appearance and personality. Dr Charmaine added, “Mango enjoys attention in general, and honestly, he has a very unique personality.” Rasha shared, “Zeze is incredibly cooperative and easy to work with because she loves people, enjoys travelling, and is always excited when she sees her favourite ball or senses that we are heading out on an adventure together”.
PET PARENTS SEE A BRIGHT FUTURE IN CREATING CONTENT
Initially, pet parents started posting out of their love and adoration for their animal friends. But with each post, the online engagement seemed to be increasing, and now they are anticipating collaborations and even more reach for their pets. Nishi said, “I initially started the account just to document Snow’s journey and memories. Huskies have such strong personalities, and Snow has always been very expressive and camera-friendly. Over time, I realised that people loved watching his videos and found joy and comfort in his posts.” This positive response motivated Nishi to double down on the account, its content as a way to spread positivity and happiness. “We’re gradually building a stronger community of followers to grow the account organically while staying true to Snow’s personality. I’d love to collaborate with pet-friendly brands and create engaging, fun content about snow. Most importantly, I want the page to remain a happy space for everyone, and I hope to reach more people who can smile because of him,” Nishi added. In a digital world that often feels fast and inundating, pet content brings something refreshingly real. It can be a wagging tail, a goofy grin or a playful spin; these animals remind audiences of the simple in life. For their owners, what began as a way to capture memories has grown into a meaningful community built on warmth and positivity. And perhaps that is the true reason pet influencers continue to thrive: not just because they are trained or talented, but because they make people pause, smile and feel a little lighter in the middle of their scrolling.
