The controversy surrounding Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar over the much-anticipated film Don 3 has intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor. The development comes months after reports first emerged claiming that Ranveer Singh had exited the project unexpectedly, allegedly causing major disruptions to the film’s schedule and production plans.
Amid growing speculation and widespread industry debate, Ranveer Singh has now broken his silence through an official statement issued by his spokesperson. The statement stressed that the actor continues to hold deep respect for the film fraternity as well as everyone associated with the Don franchise. According to the spokesperson, Ranveer deliberately chose not to comment publicly on the controversy because he believes professional matters and personal relationships should be handled with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect rather than through public exchanges.

The statement further added that despite multiple narratives and speculations circulating within the media and industry circles, Ranveer never found it necessary to fuel the rumours or contribute to public conjecture. Instead, the actor has remained focused on his professional commitments and upcoming projects. The spokesperson also clarified that Ranveer continues to wish success for the Don franchise and all those involved in the film.
The controversy escalated after FWICE publicly confirmed that a formal complaint had been filed against Ranveer Singh by Farhan Akhtar several months ago. At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association President Ashoke Pandit explained the sequence of events that led to the federation’s action. According to Pandit, the complaint was initially submitted on April 11, alleging that Ranveer Singh withdrew from Don 3 merely weeks before the production unit was scheduled to begin filming, resulting in significant financial and logistical setbacks.
Pandit stated that FWICE followed standard industry procedure by inviting both Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani to present their side of the dispute. While Sidhwani attended the meeting in person, Farhan reportedly joined virtually from London. FWICE maintained that every effort was made to hear all parties fairly before any decision was taken.
However, the federation claimed that Ranveer Singh failed to respond to three separate notices sent by FWICE seeking his appearance and clarification. Pandit further revealed that it was only after the federation announced its press conference that Ranveer’s team contacted FWICE via email. In that communication, the actor’s representatives reportedly questioned whether the federation had the authority to intervene in the matter at all.
FWICE President BN Tiwari strongly defended the organisation’s decision, insisting that the issue extended far beyond a disagreement between an actor and a producer. Tiwari highlighted how delays or cancellations of major productions directly impact thousands of technicians, junior artists, daily wage workers, and crew members whose livelihoods depend on film projects continuing smoothly.
He emphasised that FWICE represents all sections of the industry and that no individual, regardless of fame or influence, can be considered above industry rules and professional accountability. According to Tiwari, the federation wanted to send a strong message that professionalism and commitment remain essential responsibilities for everyone working within the film industry, including superstars.
